Medical skin peels offer great results for patients who suffer with the following skin problems:
All treatments undertaken at ESS Clinic are performed by a doctor specialising in skin. A personalised treatment plan will be discussed with each patient ensuring that optimal results can be achieved.
Medical skin peels are a method of resurfacing the skin and are classified by how deep they penetrate into the skin. The effect of the peel depends on pre-peel preparation of the skin, the strength of the peel, the volume of the peel used and also the aftercare regime used.

- What does a Medical Skin Peel Treatment involve?
At ESS Clinic, we use the VI peel range, which is virtually painless and has minimal downtime when compared with other medium medical peels. This peel can be used safely on all skin types and skin colours. As with all medium medical skin peels, the amount of skin shedding is significantly more than that of a superficial peel. Skin shedding usually occurs 2 to 3 days after your peel and lasts up to a week.
A medium peel can be more beneficial as often only one treatment is required to achieve the same results as a course of superficial medical skin peels.
Medium peels improve the tone, texture and clarity of the skin by reducing fine lines and wrinkles. The VI peel is particularly effective for treating pigmentation problems, age spots and acne scarring.
Your consultation will involve a full assessment and detailed discussion with a qualified doctor specialising in skin and aesthetic treatments. A full medical history will be taken, treatment options will be discussed and a further appointment can be booked for the treatment to be undertaken. For any treatment you decide to have, consent will be obtained ensuring that you have a full understanding of the procedure. Before and after photographs are taken in order to measure results and record improvements.
Prior to your treatment, we will provide you with instructions on how to prepare your skin.
The doctor will cleanse and de-grease the skin, then apply the peel over all of the areas to be treated. This will take up to 15 minutes. Depending on the type of peel used, you may experience no discomfort or some mild/moderate stinging whilst the peel is being administered. Following the procedure, sun protection will be applied.
After the procedure, your skin will be red and flushed for a few hours, in a similar way to that of mild sunburn. Shedding/dryness may occur on days 3, 4 or 5 depending on the type of peel that you have.
Verbal and written aftercare advice will be given to you to ensure that optimal results are achieved from the treatment.
If a patient has any concerns prior to or after the treatment, our experienced staff are on hand to help and answer any questions.
